(actually quoting Herbert 'cuz I never saw the original...the news server
here went belly-up over the week-end).

Interesting, in the Apple ][e Technical Reference Manual, there is a
section which talks about caring for your computer. The interesting thing
is the paragraph which says something like...

"Of course you should protect it from physical violence such as hammer
blows or defenestration..."

I ran to the dictionary and discovered this is exactly what the
real-life-less jerk double-quoted above was talking about. Now I guessI
know why it is in there!

(Although...real life story time...I dropped a ][e off a 7' high cart
once. This was the CPU unit only, with a disk controller and an 80-column
board inside; it was on its way to get two keyswitches replaced. It fell
(SPLAT) to the tile floor. The boards went flying, the keycaps went
everywhere. I tracked down all the AWOL keycaps, and didn't bother to
realign the bar under the space bar since it was going in for keyboard
repair anyway. When the thing returned, the keyswitches in the original
repair order were the only problems noted after a complete physical.
Don't try this with an ImageWriter II, though...a 2.5' fall killed that one!)

[years ago, I was on the equipment crew for a community computer literacy
program and we moved hundreds of ][e's around the city!]
