This sounds like the evil SRAM problem. The Zi seems to have
problems with a lot of different brands of ram chips. One
thing to try: I've had some luck with shielding the card with
aluminum foil. You've got to be careful not to short anything
on the card, though. I've got one piece over the non-component
side, and one rectangular cover for each sram chip. With it I'm
running at 10MHz with some ISSI chips that wouldn't even boot at
8MHz unshielded. One thing to watch for: if your zip is crashing,
there is the possibility that your system software has been subtly
corrupted. I've had to reinstall my system software a couple of
times after trying to push my Zip.
