Ramfast w/2 hard drives
I've got a Ramfast Rev d. Had a Conner 200mb drive hooked up to it for
quite a while. Along the way I've hooked up other drives to it
temporarily for copying to/from the 200mb drive. They all seemed to work
well.
I just bought a Seagate ST1950N 766mb drive to replace my 200mb drive. I
hooked the Seagate up to the Ramfast (by itself), formatted it and
partitioned it just fine. All seemed to work well. Then I hooked the
200mb drive back up to the chain and turned everything back on. The
Ramfast does not automatically go into the utils to tell me a new device
has been attached (as it should), instead it boots off the 200mb drive.
When I go into the Ramfast utils, it shows me all the 200mb partitions
and the first partition of the Seagate. When I select Scsi Utils, it
does not show me a list of devices, instead it acts as if the 200mb drive
is the only drive attached and goes directly to show me the partition
sizes of the 200mb drive.
The 200mb drive is SCSI ID0, and the Seagate is SCSI ID1. The Ramfast is
supplying terminator power and both drives are un-terminated. I've tried
removing the ramfast termination power and terminating the last drive in
the chain, but no change.
I've been told that the Seagate may be a SCSI II drive and I need to
install a jumper to put it into SCSI I mode. Does anyone have any ideas
on what's wrong? Anyone have any experience with this Seagate Drive???
Any help would be appreciated.
