FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INTREC NEWSWARE

InTrec takes ProTERM to the Macs!

ProTERM, the feature laden and award winning communications program is now
available for Macintosh computers.

PROTERM Mac Feature List

ProTERM's sophisticated features provide the communications tools for home,
school and business. Features such as terminal emulation, an integrated text
editor, multiple-sessions, powerful macros and extensive protocol support allow
ease of use and state-of-the-art high-performance communications solutions.

Over 400 pages of instructional text including a get started tutorial. The
ProTERM new user "Jump Start Cheat Sheet" helps to get you up and running with
ProTERM and telecommunications right away. The 400+ page user manual is
designed for fast easy reference. Four major parts define the areas of need.
o ProTERM, an introduction to telecommunications and ProTERM, startup and
conventions, and a general introduction to communications.
o The definition and explanation of major features.
o The definition and explanation of ProTERM menus.
o Reference: technical, hardware and installation.

ProTERM and the ProTERM manual's well illustrated examples plus a complete
index, provide the telecommunication tools needed by the novice, casual user,
and expert.

Easy and clean installation -- just drag the ProTERM folder onto your hard disk
and double click on the ProTERM icon.

Extensive preferences allow you to customize options throughout ProTERM,
including the selection of default folders for file transfers and editor
documents and preferred sounds to play in response to various program events.

The ProTERM terminal window allows font size changes from 6 to 24 point on the
screen with a key stroke, and standard alpha and numeric text is displayed in
the font of your choice. Make the screen very small and watch general online
activity while you are working on another project, or make the text large,
relieve eye strain, sit back and work with ease. This advantage also allows
sight-impaired users to work more easily with the larger text. Both color and
special display attributes (bold, underline, reverse, flashing), are displayed
with supporting emulations (VT-102 and ANSI-BBS). Individual colors can be
customized to provide the most pleasing look for you on a particular service on
your monitor.

Preferred keyboard shortcuts can be added to menu commands by using
personalized ProTERM Macros.

The terminal screen can be changed to a size to match your needs. Window sizes
and positions are maintained when windows are opened, moved, resized and
closed. The Window menu provides a list of open windows and keyboard commands,
and allows you to easily zoom, stack and cycle through open windows.

The Print Window command prints any ProTERM window (except floating windows),
including alert and dialog windows. For example, you can use Print Window to
provide a quick-reference map of a keyboard emulation window.

Capture incoming text in ProTERM scrollback, copy, edit, print and save it as a
file.

The Modem Control window allows monitoring of interaction between ProTERM and
your modem. See commands as they are sent to the modem, and how the modem
responds to the commands.

Reduce long distance and access charges by working offline. Text is saved and
can be reviewed in the terminal window after it has scrolled off, even if it
has been erased from the screen. Read, search, print, save, copy and paste text
while online or offline. The text can be reformatted and even uploaded to
another computer. Limits can be set for how much text can be saved, and or
discarded for each service.

Chat Mode allows you to enter and edit text in a separate window to avoid
confusing text mix-up during real-time chat sessions. Text can be entered into
a separate (buffered) "Chat Mode" window, and the press of the RETURN key
releases the prepared text into the chat area. This feature also allows you to
efficiently navigate an online service -- the next needed command can be
entered while the service is processing the current command.

The Get Info command displays information about files including creator, type,
creation and modification dates and time, and file size. Change creator and
file type as needed, or use the "Same As" button to match an existing file.

ProTERM supports Telnet access to the Internet (requires TCP/IP Connection).
Multi-session support allows multiple Telnet sessions simultaneously.

 - ProTERM's Integrated Text Editor

ProTERM's text editor is optimized for use in a communications environment.
Messages can be created offline and then sent after connecting to a service.

The power of the integrated text editor allows you to create, edit and format
messages while offline or online. Send text directly from a document in the
ProTERM editor to an online service. Clean up and reformat documents from
online using the ProTERM editor features such as find and replace text,
character count, convert Mac characters to ASCII characters or vice versa,
strip control characters, strip high-bit characters, convert text to uppercase
or lowercase, convert to and from line and paragraph format.

The editor displays ASCII control characters in a visible form and can
optionally show paragraph markers, white-space and tab-stops. Smart (curly)
quotes can be turned on or off with a click. Set quotes as a preference to be
curly or straight when a new document is opened or convert from straight to
curly quotes or vise versa in an open document.

The ProTERM editor also performs "on-the-fly" end-line conversion for PC and
UNIX text files as they are opened. Save files to disk in the preferred format
of Text, Text (PC), Text (UNIX), Macro or Connect List.

Easily send a complete or selected portion of an editor document to a service,
or use the Format Text first to see how it will look in its final form as sent
or printed. The Format test feature shows a preview of exactly how text will
appear when uploaded to a service, or printed by ProTERM. This feature formats
and prepares the work as an ASCII "line document" (a RETURN character on every
line). All formatting and character conversion is performed, and the document
is shown in the exact format just as it would appear if it was sent to a
printer or a service. Symbol conversion and text formatting is done completely
and without effort.

Selected text can be exported (copied) from a document and saved as a separate
file. Selected text can be appended to the end of an existing file on disk
without opening that file. Text can also be imported from a file on a disk into
an open document without opening that file. Place the cursor at any point in an
open document, and open a file from disk into the open document -- The text
from the file opens and is inserted into the current open document from the
point of the cursor position.

 - Terminal Emulation

A keyboard emulation map shows which keys to press on your keyboard to produce
keys required by a chosen terminal emulations. ProTERM utilizes extra keys
available on extended keyboards for emulations requiring them.

Sophisticated Terminal Emulations including ADDS Viewpoint, ANSI-BBS, Control
Show, DEC VT-52, DEC VT-100, DEC VT-102, Heath H-19, LSI ADM-3a/5, no
emulation, PSE/A2, TeleVideo 910 and allow easy access to most any service.
ANSI-BBS supports color with a color monitor. Emulations allow use of eight
different font sizes from 6 to 24 point.

The DELETE key's action can be changed for each service to send backspace or
delete characters, and also process the backspace as a destructive or
nondestructive character.

Control Show emulation permits a diagnostic display by showing control
characters and high-bit characters in a special visible format. This can also
be used to analyze the emulation codes sent by a service.

- Powerful Macros

AutoLearn Macros allow automatic logon. Select the AutoLearn command to watch
and learn as you logon to a service and subsequent connects to that service can
be automatic.

ProTERM macros allow the creation of simple or complex custom commands which
work with a keystroke.

ProTERM uses the powerful DIRC macro programming language which allows
development of sophisticated macros applications. DIRC uses a similar syntax
and the commands of popular C programming language. Full multi-tasking allows
multiple macros to execute simultaneously in one or more sessions.

Over 80 pages of documentation are dedicated to the use macros, and several
example macro files are supplied on the ProTERM disk. These files include
interacting with a service, assigning keyboard shortcuts to menu commands, and
even automatically setting your Macintosh clock with a dialup time server.

Use macros to add custom keyboard shortcuts to menu commands, redefine existing
keyboard shortcuts to suit your preferences, or automate several commands into
a single keystroke.

Each service has its own logon macro as well as nine short service macros (each
is directly accessible from the keyboard). Use the service macros to send
commands to a service or to start more complex macro applications.

Create "resident macros" that are always ready for use and can be activated by
a keypress, or an automatic program event (such as a file transfer).

Included macro functions can send or receive text to a service or from a
service, insert text into a document, copy text to the clipboard, or read text
from the clipboard, play sounds and even speak (if Macintosh Speech Manager is
installed).

ProTERM macros support signed 32-bit integers and dynamic string data types.
Strings can be assigned, appended, and compared using standard algebraic
operators for easy macro development.

 - Connect File Features

The names of each service are maintained within the Connect menu for easy
selection. Connect files maintain information about individual services
including name, phone number, speed, format, duplex, emulation, foreground and
background color, transfer options, logon and service macros. Connect to a
service by choosing its name from a menu or by double-clicking the connect file
while in the Finder.

Network support for Telnet and ADSP. Multi-session support with appropriate
hardware and or software allows simultaneous online connections with multiple
modems or network connections.

The Connect List feature allows calls to a specific selected list of services.
Select a connect list and ProTERM attempts to connect sequentially to each of
the services on the list. Services are shown on a "Previously Connected" list
as each connection is made.

Multiple equipment configurations can be defined allowing each service to be
different. Choose the service by name, and its all set to make the connection.

ProTERM maintains the status of the last connect attempt for each service
including date, time, result and connect speed.

An activity log can save connect information including date and time of
connections, and names of files transferred to and from a service.

Online status window shows time connected, elapsed time and lines of text
available for review in terminal window.

Uniform Phone Numbers feature allows phone numbers to be entered with area
codes. Local area codes are removed during dialing and changing to a different
calling area is as simple as changing the local area code. Calling card
numbers, 9+local, and many other calling conventions are also supported.

Callback verification is simple and easy to use.

Remote printing is supported when it is supported by the terminal emulation.

- Transfer Features

ProTERM file transfer protocols support Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem and Kermit.
MacBinary and Zmodem Resume are also supported. A transfer status window keeps
you informed of the file transfer while in progress.

Auto-Start Protocols allow hands-off download operations. Tell the remote
service to start sending via Zmodem or Kermit, and ProTERM does the rest.

ProTERM allows a batch file list for use during online file transfers. The list
can be prepared using the ProTERM editor before the call. When you are ready
for the file transfer select the list, and all corresponding files for transfer
are automatically transferred from wherever they exist in your system.

Send text files using prompted or timed ASCII uploads. Special Macintosh symbol
characters are automatically converted to ASCII equivalents, formatting to
specific line width, blank line protection and more.

 - Hardware Support

ProTERM supports Macintosh Plus, SE, Classic, II-family, LC, Portable,
Performa, PowerBook, Centris, Quadra and Power Macintosh Computers with a
minimum of 2MB of RAM and System 6.0.5 or later. Requires a minimum of one
floppy disk drive and a hard disk.

ProTERM supports Apple Express Modem, GeoPort; BOCA Research 14.4Kbps; Hayes
Smartmodem 300, 1200, 2400, V9600, Personal 1200, 2400, Optima 144, 288;

Standard; Zoom/Modem MX 2400R, V32turbo and many others (including most "AT"
compatible modems).

"AT" modem drivers can be customized to your needs.

Multiple connect methods that associate a particular hardware configuration
with a name can be defined, and you can select among defined connect methods
for each service.

Suggested retail price $129.95
