I do this all the time, but I'm careful to use on ly the DS/DD disks...
you may get away with it on the HD disks, but they are generally set up
to require a higher mag flux than the DS/DD disks and you could wind
up losing some dats from time to time...we had a very real occurrence
on an engineering project when using HD and DD disks interchangeabley...
we would lose some of the datat occasionally and drive our computer
support people nuts trying to recover the data...we were using the
disks the clerk would give us from the supply area...our computer
jocks finally tired of the screwups and came down hard on the clerks,
who were, after all, just trying to save a little money by handing out
the cheaper gray disks rather than the more costly black disks...:-)
