Apple II to IBM file transfer: answer

To whom it may concern:

I just went through the trauma of changing to IBM from Apple II.
As a result of this experience, I needed to convert Apple files to IBM.
Fortunately, someone had the answer for me, and I will share it
with you. There is a program designed specifically to transfer files
between Apple IIs and IBM. Not only does it change text format from
Appleworks to WordPerfect and back, it will change spreadsheet
format to Lotus and back. The program is Cross-Works. It was (?is)
produced and was (?is) sold by SoftSpoken, PO Box 18343, Raliegh,
NC 27619, 919/870-5694. I have version 2.0, produced in Jan. 1990.
Ron Angert sold me this program. It consists of two programs,
one of which resides on each computer. Via either direct cable
(from super serial card to serial port) or modem (book says, I didn't try
this) files are transfered. They move at 19200 baud by direct cable.
I know Ron has one more program. Mine is promised to the local
high school which is going through the conversion process. Ron's
email is rangert@vt.edu. The program originally cost $80, but he gave
me a big discount on it.
If the company is no longer in business, maybe someone can talk the
heirs into releasing the program into public domain.
Hope this helps someone. Maybe it should be added to the FAQ.
