Well... If you got a GS/OS System Diskette when you bought the machine, 
ProDos 8 is in the SYSTEM directory as the file P8.  The ProDos file on 
the GS system disk is actually  the GS/OS load program.

While I haven't actually done this on my GS, I'm fairly sure that it'll 
run.  Basically, anything that ran on a IIe will run on a GS.  MOF, if the 
Sider is bootable on the IIe, it'll boot on the IIgs (i.e., you don't 
actually HAVE to run GS/OS to use a IIgs.  It'll impersonate a IIe with no 
problem.
