Actually, I'm really glad that Apple put that keyboard switch on the IIc. 
When I first started using a IIc, I was curious about this switch and what
it did.  That curiosity led me to find out more about the Dvorak layout. 
I liked what I heard and decided that since it was so easy to switch
between Qwerty and Dvorak, I'd give Dvorak a try.  I LOVE it.  It is a way
better layout than Qwerty.  Do you all realize that the Qwerty layout was
designed to slow down the typist?  It intentionally used the most awkward,
reachey key positions so that the typist would be prevented from going so
fast that they jammed up the manual typewriters used at the time. 
Instead, the Dvorak layout has 70% of your key usage in the home row. 
After I switched, my speed went up almost immediately, and the incipient
pain in my wrist went away.  If anybody is interested in more info about

You are right. It is impossible to rearrange the keycaps on the GS or Mac 
keyboards.  However, if you are a touch-typist it is not a problem.  Who 
cares if the keycap says "S" as long as you know it is really an "O".
