Hi, welcome! I cannot answer all your questions, but I try to help as much as
I can.

: I wrote this new because in Italy it is difficult to get informations on
: Apple II gs (that is if you don't live in Milan or Rome)

This happens to most of the world, even in USA. You will get more information
if you connected to Apple II BBS, Genie or Internet.

: 1)What are system requirements for system 6.01 (Hd, Ram, Rom, ...)?

1MB minimum. I will advice you to get at least 2MB. 4MB will be heaven.

: 2)I can download the system from ftp.apple.com, but how can I transfer it into
: Apple II gs disks if my IIgs is not connected to the net? (I don't have a mo-
: dem). I would appreciate if you can explain me the whole procedure, step by
: step.
: The computer I can use are:
:  Sun IPC or classic
: IBM compatible, with Linux and Dos
: Mac with sistem 7.1 and superdrive

Easy: which system connected to the net?

* PC - write to MS DOS disk, use Mac to transfer to 800K HFS disk.
* Sun - write to MS DOS disk, use Mac to transfer to 800K HFS disk.
* Mac - write to 800K HFS disk.

: 4)What sort of Hd controllers are avaible for Apple IIgs? What size of Hd does
: the controllers supports ? Are they limited by the operating system?

There are 3: Apple Rev C SCSI, Apple High Speed SCSI and RAMFast SCSI. I would
advice you to get either RAMFast or Apple High Speed SCSI (RAMFast is better
but more expensive). I don't think there is a limit of HD size, 100-500MB should
be enough for GS, depends on your need.

: 5)Does it exist a UNIX for IIgs ? Where can I find it ?

Yes, but not exactly. GNO is a very popular UNIX clone for GS. But there is no
X11 or Motif for it. Most of the UNIX utilities are there. The file system
depends on GS/OS, so a file called foo and FOO are the same. But otherwise, this
is a fine system, which will preemptive multitasks your UNIX applications.

: 6)Does it exist a C and/or a C++ compiler for IIgs ?

Orca/C yes. No C++.

: Thanks for the time you'll spent answering

Happy new year and enjoy your GS. Do you know a new video card for GS called
Second Sight is on the way?
