Aigh! Termination, right?

Well, I found out to my own surprise that my HD will not work reliably at
all without the Syquest on the chain. The main HD is a Quantum mech and
(i believe) supplies termination power. With both on the chain, everything
operates fine. The HFS cart checks out okay on Macs with Norton, and on
the GS, Deliverance a-okays the Quantum. Without the Syquest on the chain,
I'll get such odd errors such as "Cannot load START.GS.OS" on startup,
crashes during the thermometer, finder windows closing on their own, and
the infamous "Please insert <your HD name here>".
I'm running an Apple High Speed SCSI card. It take it it's the culprit?
Oh yeah, this also happens if I don't power up the Syquest. So maybe
_it's_ the one supplying the term power?
