Hmm...well, it seems to be working fine for me now. Since I changed
the printer's dips (as described in a previous post), things seem to
be fine (under the same conditions where the problem manifested
itself). I haven't had any opportunity to do any further printing yet.

I think the only problem is that the Harmonie manual has the dip
settings described incorrectly (at least for the dj500). Here's hoping
anyhow :)
