Okay folks, read this carefully! I am attempting to integrade a CD-ROM on
my BBS to display shareware CDs for download directories. Now, none of that
"You can't do that" nonsense, I really want viable suggestions on how it
can be done. This is what I run/will be running soon:
Enhanced Apple//e 8MHz ZipChip
1meg Aux memory card by Sequential Systems (presently running Video7 card)
RamFast Rev.C 256K SCSI card (presently running A2HS card)
Quantum 40meg SCSI-2 HD, by Quality Computers
Now the hard part: what CD-ROM drive, made by Apple or others, will work
best with the above configuraton?
Pre-Owned Electronics are advertising a NEC CDR25 single speed CD-ROM for the
sum of $99.00 plus shipping. would this work, since the lowest price for an
Apple CD-150 is alltech for $189.00, and the CD-300 from Apple User Group
Connection for $229.00 includes shipping plus tax. I do not actually expect
to RUN files off of the drive, just the ability to catalog the disk and use
it as a download directory. I understand the problem with reading the
different formats of disks out there, but I have software to circumvent that.
Serious replies via email only, and slanderous remarks will be ignored.
