SCSI is SCSI is SCSI (well at least for the most part with SCSI-I).
I have a ClubMac SyQuest 105 SCSI removable on my scsi chain and it
works just fine. As I have a Apple HS SCSI card it really only works
from GS/OS, but as you have a RAMFast, if you have the cartridge in
at boot it should work from both ProDOS and GS/OS, assuming the
correct ROM version. I do not know what that would be.
While ordering, when they ask for computer type, say "MAC" and if you
have to, cringe while your saying it.
Backing up with a SyQuest is not inexpensive, even for the larger
sizes (200 or 270 meg). Cartridges run $50-80 while tape goes for
around $10-20. Having multiple generation backups makes the cost
higher and higher. The great advantage of the removables is the
offline archiving. Pop in a cartridge and presto, 44-270 megs of
new, clean space. Its really quite nice.
For a tape drive, the best/only IIgs tape backup software is GS Tape
v2 from Tim Grams. I believe their is a demo version of it at the
major A2 ftp sites. I do not know what tape drives it works with.
Doesn't the RAMFast have its own tape backup support? I thought it
did.
