Actually, just because a modem (I assume you mean 9600 of 14.4k baud) is
under- what did you say???? $150???- doesn't mean it's bad quality!

Ever hear of the LinkLink 144 or the Magnum 144? They are both under
your price and are excellent quality! The first is $99 and the latter is
only- are you ready?- $89 for a 14400 baud faxmodem!
I have the LinkLink and it has worked almost perfectly for almost a
year now.
