The system can't be revised to support larger point sizes without
breaking all existing applications.  Font specifications only use a
byte to indicate the point size (one byte style, one byte point size,
two byte family number).

One way to get larger fonts would be to redefine the point scaling
system (messy).  Another possibility would be to use special fonts
which are larger than normal.


Do you really need screen fonts larger than 255 points?

If the main problem is printing scaled-up versions, it may be possible
to add new features to Pointless and to high-end drivers to select
point sizes larger than 255, but it would have to be done through a
new mechanism.
