This is probably a bad idea, but you might be able to get rid of the
file by using a hidden feature of Cat Doctor (part of ProSel- if you
don't have it, GET IT!). Sort the directory with the file, and move
the file you want to get rid of to the end.  Then, (while the file is
highlighted at the end), press <openapple> <delete>.  The file will
disappear.  Press return to sort it, and then run Mr.
Fixit.  It will tell you that you have some free blocks marked used.
Tell it to free 'em.

This is a good procedure for very corrupt files which you can't delete
using normal methods.  I'm not sure if this is kosher for your application,
though.
