There are reasons to enable shadowing on startup, disable it, and then
turn it on and off for page flipping, screen restoration or something.

Does the mouse check every time it draws? Because if it doesn't, then
enabling shadowing on QDStartUp and then disabling it later will make
the cursor cause lots of problems. NewWindow() doesn't check at all
and that's lots of problems.
