Sorry, but you're wrong. 16-bit wav's will play on the GS but with serious
clicking. As the original poster said, the 16-bit wav won't sound right
unless it is seriously edited or translated. That's when all the 16-bit
values are translated to equivalent 8-bit values since the ensoniq in the
GS only plays 8-bit sounds.

The clicking is the ensoniq translating the high byte of the WAVs. These
high bytes do not translate into anything but garbage clicking or static
sounds.
