Appleshare 4.0 requires an '040 and doesn't support booting II's from the
server. 2.0 doesn't run under system 7. So 3.0 is the one to get. It's still
available, you can get it for $969 at Macwarehouse. It's still quite beyond
the affordability/justifiability limit for most home users. I got a copy from
a local liquidation outfit for $400 around a year ago. 
3.0 is vastly improved over 2.0 in that individual folders can be set up as
server volumes and you can mount and unmount volumes without shutting down
the server. So I'd not mess with 2.0 unless you get it for free or something.
