Re: ][gs - Much help needed

Re: the hard drive - not necessary, but a really good idea.
Get a RAMFast SCSI card - they're the best-supported...

As for Kermit - depends on where you got it and how recent a version it is.
In any case, it should have an extension... look up the extension below and
what follows is the program you need to unpack it.

Z - compress (not likely, but possible)
BSC - Binscii (and probably ShrinkIt afterwards)
BLU - Binary II (can't remember what I used to use for this...)
SHK - ShrinkIt
BXY - ShrinkIt (with a Binary II envelope - you don't need to fix that)
SDK - ShrinkIt (to a disk)

I know several versions of Kermit which were BLU encoded, and one or two
that were self-extracting.

If you're loading these to a Mac, make sure you put them on a ProDOS format
disk (you can do that with System 7), and just copy them there from the
Finder - DO NOT run them through Apple File Exchange, especially if they're
SHK or .BLU files. You should be able to run ProDOS 6.x from the System
disk (boot it - slot 5). From there, you can run the other programs,
possibly including BASIC (for a self-extracting archive format).

To run Kermit: You NEED to have BASIC.System, and you need to set the
files included with Kermit up correctly - there's help withing Kermit to
let you do that... Send Mail if you need help (it's been a while since I've
installed Kermit, though...)
