Help with IW2

My trusted ImageWriter 2 printer is dying.  For the past
year or so, printing graphics (or text in fonts) results
in a mis-aligned output (so printing a large O
 looks like this-          instead of this-

     :: ::                     :: ::
    :: ::                      :: ::
    :: ::                      :: ::
     :::                        :::

Yesterday, when I turned it on, the red error light just
turned on and remained so, as if there was no more paper.
Needless to say, the printer was loaded with paper at the
time.


Any ideas?  Please?  The service here in Israel is terrible
as it is for Apple // computers of any kind (The GS didn't
even make it here officially) and the solve every technical
problem by sending the stuff to the US and billing the
client for the costs.  I don't want to spend a few
hundred dollars on fixing the printer...
