This is an updated beta version of Desktop Utilities 4.0, the new utilities
suite and toolbox for the IIGS. To run DTUtils 4, you need a IIgs and
System 6.0 or later. Modules that have been written for DTUtils 4 so far
include a Virtual DA Manager and a menu bar clock/calendar/whatsit that you
can make into a windoid on your desktop. Read the supplied docs for more
information.
The new version manages the settings file rather better, so that backup
utilities should no longer choke with 'File busy' errors, and there is much
less likelihood of your configuration getting corrupted if the system crashes.
Error handling in the public functions has also been vastly improved, and
there is a new version of the programmer's library which interfaces better
with high-level languages such as C and Pascal. (Thanks to Rick Adams for
helping with the development of this library.)
The files have been uploaded to comp.binaries.apple2, and will be uploaded
to cco.caltech.edu as soon as I can get a connection.
Enjoy,
