Re: Sonobox Specs

You're right of course. It shouldn't be compared to
shellplay since it doesn't have as many features.

Poor tony. Would have got much better press if he didn't have this
guy overhyping it.

[Note: This is not a flame of sonobox. Just showing differences in
the two programs to point out that sonobox is not this all heralded
program that Bryan keeps claiming.]

	1) Shellplay can "jukebox" songs. (ie one plays after the
previous, automatically loading, etc.) Sonobox cannot (unless it's
some secret hidden key)

	2) Shellplay continues playing songs between applications.
Sonobox does not. (NOTE: The "background" function of sonobox only
lets you close the nda window, but the mod will still be shutdown when
you switch applications.)

	3) Shellplay supports hardware handshaking around it's
interrupt as an option. Sonobox does not.

	4) Shellplay supports 100 volume settings and 200 stereo
settings. Sonobox supports and 4 stereo settings and 1 (?) volume
setting.

Should I continue?? I don't see how you could in any way say
that sonobox is so much better then shellplay, and I'm inclined to say
that it isn't anything more then a NDA equivilant to shellplay with
less features.

: An editor? Well, Ian's been promising Shockwave that does everything for
: everything and anything with it for a good while no. Don't get me wrong,
: if he put it out, I'd be unbelievably happy, but he hasn't, so its just
: vaporware. Withc, BTW, you people can sceptically call Sonobox until
: 12:00.

	1) Ian has not been promising anything. 99.9% of anything you
have heard about shockWave is rumor and gossip. Ian doesn't know you
(I asked him) and I don't know you, so you certainly didn't hear
anything from us that we haven't said on csa2 (which hasn't been
much).

	2) Ian is not writing the editor for shockWave. Between a
job, a hellish course load, and all the other things I have to do for
the organizations I'm in, it's a wonder I have any time to program on
sW. Of course it doesn't help that I have hundreds of ideas for cool
features that I want to implement. (or provide support for so they
can be implemented in the future.)

: Oh ye, and if you can't stand all us stupid people for not making a MOD
: editor, then maybe you should do it yourself.

I don't know who this reply was to, but... I am
: You ever try programming a
: desk top program?

	Yes I have.
: Then throw a spreadsheet in to the mix, and you'll
: find out why an editor hasn't been designed yet.

It's not really that difficult. It does however, take a
significant amount of time and planning. And the word should be
"released" not designed. I suspect several mod editors have been
designed.
