The prices I've seen on Iomega Floptical drives are around $399. You
may find them cheaper if you look long enough, I'm sure.

Yes, you should format the disk first and then partition it.

I'm using ROM version 3.00l and I believe that's the minimum version
which is reliable. Version 3.01c (I think) had a nasty bug. Regardless,
I suggest that you get the current version, 3.01e, it's quite stable.
