I believe I know what the problem is, it has to with the 'OPTIONS'
settings in the text Control Panel (or 'KEYBOARD' settings if using a ROM 3).
Enter the CDA Control Panel, select 'Options' and examine the setting for
'Repeat Delay'. Is the there a check-mark besides this option or asterisk
indicator at the center position? (ie, default setting). If _not_, then use
the arrow keys to set it back to the default -- that is, once the check-mark
appears by the side. Now press return to save the setting.

A couple of programs out there mess around with the Keyboard/Options
settings in the Control Panel and save them to bRAM (stupid, yes, but
unfortunately they do!). If you have the games Captain Blood, Test Drive II,
Columns GS(?), Grand Prix Circuit (just to name a few) you now know what's
the source of the annoying problem. You can still use them, though just
remember to restore certain Control Panel settings afterwards. Or of course
use a program that can save & restore all your settings. No need to keep these
settings to default mind you, I have my 'Repeat Delay' 1 notch below default
and 'Repeat Speed' three notches above default. This makes ProTERM, AppleWorks
and other text-based software scroll text MUCH quicker when you hold-down
the cursor keys.
