SUDDENLY, AW 3.0 won't print!! HAAAEELP!
The subject line states the problem. The ole' Panasonic KXP-1091 still
prints from Jumpstart 3.01 (my GS/OS launcher/utility) AND from AWGS 1.1
(and I imported the spreadsheet file in question from Appleworks 3.0!).
The things I've checked: using OA-H, trying to print a wordprocessing
file (rather than SS), the printer, the cables, the Videx Uniprint
parallel interface card, the Appleworks "Other Activities" interface card
codes (Control-I 80N or Control-I 200N), and of course, the fact that the
system works with other software (the control panel "DC printer" and
slots are unchanged: parallel card, Epson, slot 1). When I hit OA-P and
the three Returns, the thermometer appears, and fills, but nothing
happens at the printer. This happened after I "printed" a spreadsheet to
the clipboard for a WP document, so I thought maybe I just didn't specify
the printer correctly. Nope, happened again! It refuses to print even
after I powered down everything for ten minutes, and after I PRINTED with
AWGS!
Retracing my steps: the last thing I printed (and aborted half way
through) was a Hypercard GS calendar. Then I went away for the weekend.
I didn't think my Woz 01 would miss me that much! Everything booted
fine, from Slot 7 RAMfast/La Cie Tsunami HD. I use JumpStart 3.01 as my
launcher, with a few Inits/NDA's, including Ultrablank....a stable
platform for me for months. I did recently activate a few unused
partitions of the HD when I did a back up last week. I put my newly
acquired Hypercard on one of those partitions. I called in my internet
access using Zlink, had a session, then quit to go to Appleworks 3.0 with
about 12 Timeout applications. Loaded lickety-split like usual, allowed
manipulations on the SS and saves, etc. I "printed" to the clipboard.
When I went to print a block of the SS via one of the three printer
variations I have added, it acted quite smug and self-satisfied filling
the thermometer, but nada! So I tried each of the three "printers" I
have: nada!
Any insights, or is it a Halloween goblin!!! I recently put Cogito,
Shanghai II updates, and some downloaded text on the HD. Could it be
a... a........ VIRUS????
