RAMFACTOR IIE: Stalls when fully populated 1024k; WHY?



               AE RAMFACTOR MEMORY CARD FOR APPLE IIE:
   FUNCTIONS GOOD WITH 768K; PROBLEMS WHEN FULLY LOADED WITH 1024K
                     DO JUMPERS NEED TO BE SET?

I have two AE Ramfactor memory cards, both bought new about three years
ago.  This is a slot #7 ram card with capacity of 1024K.  I use 41256-12
socketed RAM chips on these cards.

Ramfactor works just fine when loaded 3/4 full with 768K of chips.  It
passes all diagnostics and serves as a RAM disk for my spell-checker
dictionary and also as a preload for Appleworks 3.0.

But problems happen when I add the last eight RAM chips to give it a
total of 1024K.

It will not format, read, or write as a RAMDISK,  When I load
the Ramfactor Diagnostics disk, it gives this error message:

            ADDRESS REGISTERS ERROR
       PRESS ANY KEY TO RETURN TO MAIN MENU




Here is my configuration:

CPU:  ZIP CHIP  8MHz
Aux slot: Sequential Systems 1024K RAM/80 col card
Slot #1  Grappler Plus parallel printer card
Slot #4: Apple mouse card
Slot #5: Laser UDC Universal Disk Controller card (connected to Laser 3.5"
         disk drive)
Slot #6  Disk II interface (connected to two Disk ][ classics)
Slot #7  RAMFACTOR memory card


WHAT SHOULD I DO?  I note that there are two small "jumpers" at the
keyboard end of the cards; Both jumpers are now closed.  To operate
with 1024K, should either jumper be opened?

It would be really convenient to have 1024K fully active rather than just
768K because then I could copy an 800K disk in a single pass rather
than doing it file by file at present.

The RAM is in there; the diagnostic test for "Super Expander E" identifies
that 1024K are recognized on RAMFACTOR.
