-> Advice needed: 14.4 & //gs

Hi-

I recently bought a used //gs and have been having some troubles. I'd
really appreciate any advice or information you have.

-	I have an Intel 14.4e external modem connected to the //gs.
Since there isn't an exact driver listed in ProTerm, I've tired any
that will connect to the modem. The closest match so far has been the
"Okidata 9600 (RTS/CTS)". However, I still end up with character
lossage when connecting to some sites at 9600bps.

I've noticed the "modem port" adjust options in the //gs. Are these
updated as you change them or only at the bootup? Does "buffering" do
any good? With my modem, what speed should I run it at? I've tried
9600 and 19200, but with the same character lossage problems.

Exactly the character lossage is, where lines appear in the wrong
place (a line that should be row24 is row3), and the general missing
characters causing problems with text and alignment.

I do have the correct handshaking cable, and I'm not sure what to
adjust next. I'm still a little puzzled that I'd be having trouble
since I read that the //gs' port maxes at 19200bps, when I'm
connecting at 9600bps.

Any help would be appreciated,
-Steve
