No, I didn't say that. Read everything I said and don't quote me out of
context. What I said (twice now) is while it's all well and good to have a
fast graphics card, you still need a fast computer to run serious
applications.
The point I made about Rom 1 GS's (quite clearly I thought, although
obviously I have to spell it out or people jump down my neck), is that I
was under the _mistaken_ impression that Rom 1 GS's can't be accelerated
past ~ 8Mhz due to noise problems with the motherboard. I stand corrected
on this one. The context of this statement was in relation to needing a
fast computer for serious applications. I NEVER said that you can't use
the VGA card in a Rom GS, so if you are going to flame me Jawid, at least
do it for something I did say that way wrong.

Yep, I made a typeo, and have received numerous reminders because of it.
Sorry.

I was referring to a basic system, I never said a system with a printer
and 4 megs of memory. Anyway, I have seen sub $300 in Australia, where GS
prices were always at least %30 higher than the US.

No, I made a mistake on the price. I admit that. And I made a mistake when
I said that you can't accelerate a Rom 1 past 8Mhz, but numerous sources
have told me this. But as for me being misinformed on a lot of subjects,
well I will not cop that.
I am sick of this paranoia which surrounds the Apple II world. It seems
that people are so sick of being that their machine is old technology
that they immediately jump to the defence. Please read my comments in the
light with which they were intended - constructive.
Dom.
