Luigi@ace shouted as my whip tasted warm flesh:
L| I want to upload ShrinkIt and GSSHK to a local BBS (non-apple2
| I once tried using a BASIC program called XTRAX I think it was but
| I couldn't figure it out...HELP!
I have used XTRAX to archive ShrinkIt and it worked out okay. In fact,
that is the way to go about it -- take XTRAX or some other 8-bit program
which will text-package the program and that's that. Chuck Orem at
Pro-Greens took the alternate route and made BXY's out of that program
and others, so that it would uncompress on the fly to disk (if of course
you were using ProTerm or other term which un-binary-encodes).
Using XTRAX: run the program, set the source & save directories by
hitting the right letters, specify what file you want saved into what
archive (one by one each source filename into the desired archive), and
all is well. Test out your work by copying the encoded text file to a
new blank disk, EXEC the file, and if it all comes out... you're ready
to upload that textfile you created to the boards.
I assure you it does work. The head of the local Apple group thanked me
for doing just that, having had SHRINKIT34.SHK on the board for ages...
