I don't think so. There were special video-cards for the Apple II
that had higher resolution (Videx I think) and could do 132 columns.
There was also a very unique card that could do full page display
(80x60) with a side-ways monitor. Count out the //c, even if you
could find one... Also count out most apps (no drivers)
 
Apple settled on 80x24, which is easier because the II has that
DHR mode built in, no special hardware.
 
You could hack a display system with more than 80x24 (use graphics
mode and a narrow font).. speed would be, well, not speedy.
Beagle Bros.' "Flextype" got 70 columns in hi-res that way.
 
But AppleWorks wouldn't support it.
