Foreign Fonts

        The Apple GS allows typing foreign character sets.  French accented
characters can be typed as:
                Option e +e = e (acute)      / thataway
                Option e +a = a (acute)
                Option i +e = e (circumflex) ^ comme ca
                Option i +a = a (circumflex)
                Option i +o = o (circumflex)
                Option c = c (cedille)  looks like a 5 under the c
 
But how can one type a grave accent i.e thisaway \?
 
Is there some way to backspace an ImageWriter?  Even if you could, AppleWorks
will not accept Control Characters.
