No, it's not.  This is absolutely key to understanding this argument.
If _only_ Apple II users could access the net, then this argument would
be valid.  But the net is accessible to myriads of different platforms.
Must every computer-related group discuss net-topics?  The net is not
an extension of the Apple II, it is a superset of the Apple II.

Translation:  It is my intention to do what I please, regardless of
general disapproval and in violation of the charter of the newsgroup.

It is one thing to stifle information; another to request that it be
discussed in appropriate areas.  This argument is on par with wanting
to be able to shout "Fire" in a crowded theatre.

By this argument, every group, from c.s.a2 to rec.fishing would have to
carry discussions on net issues, ncftp, connectivity, etc.


Please, Joe, don't persist in this crusade.  You're a very valuable
resource in the Apple II community, but you are demonstrating a lack
of awareness of how USENET works.  To admit on the one hand that you
are a "newbie", and on the other to insist on redefining the way c.s.a2
ought to work is not productive.  As has been pointed out by others,
you would have been flamed to a crisp if you had pulled this in some
other groups; only our respect for you (and the general politeness of
this group) have kept that from happening.
