Hard Disk Woes

I purchased a 105 mb Quantum hard disk to replace the 20 mb drive I
currently have hooked up to my GS.  The drive works fine on my Mac,
and passes all the diagnostics performed by the Macintosh SCSI disk
utilities I own.  Unfortunately, when it's connected to my GS all sorts
of problems arise.

Advanced Disk Utility has no trouble partitioning and performing a low
level format of the drive, but any attempts to format the resulting
partitions with the ProDOS file system result in an "initialization
failed" error message.  I can format a partition with HFS successfully,
but attempts to copy files to the volume result in an error message or 
a frozen system.

The new drive is a Quantum LPS 105; the old one was a Seagate 125N.
They're connected to my GS via an Apple High Speed SCSI card and
a fairly simple enclosure (I'm only swapping the drive mechanism itself,
and hope to keep using the same case).  Does anyone have any idea
what could be causing my problems?  Both drives appear to be terminated
(there are three packs of resistors on the underside of each mechanism)
and I don't appear to have any SCSI ID conflicts.  I'd really appreciate
any assistance that could be offered.  Thanks...
