        The newer version is ROM 3.  However, there is no upgrade between the
two short of swapping the motherboard.  Only a few features are gained by
this anyway, chief being an extra meg of RAM.  The ROM 01 is compatible with
everything.

        How cheap?  For a new drive, you can easily spend over US$500, but
used equipment is frequently available.  For a SCSI card, check out
comp.sys.apple2.marketplace.  The RamFAST SCSI is the best and fastest, but
the Apple cards are certainly usable.

        Such a disk is included in the system software archive on
