Floptical disks

Is the lifetime of a floptical disk any better or worse than that of a regular
3.5" floppy for backup purposes? I thought I read somewhere that floptical
disks were not susceptible to degaussification by magnetic fields or the
passage of time (up to about 10 years or so), but I think that was referring
to the newer 128MB MO drives. Is this true for my 21MB floptical?
