HP LaserJet Toner Cartridge Printing capacity

	I noticed tonight part way thru a printing job my Laser Jet started
giving partially blank pages. Redistributed the toner and printing is okay.
The manual says I may get another 50 pages or so. What is typical printing
capacity of the Laser Jet IIp toner cartridge. This unit is indicating 
approximately 4100 pages. I bought it used so I don't know if this is the
first cartridge, I was told that it was. Is 4000 pages about the capacity
of a toner cartridge?  Joe Kohn??
