3.5" Drive swap

I have a dead 3.5" drive and I was wondering if it was possible to take an
old mac 800K drive and use the parts to fix my Apple 800K drive. If the
controller stuff in the drive is good can I just swap the drive mechanisms
and be done with it or do I have a door stop on my hands?
