If that's the problem you're having, the safest thing to do is NOT to use 
file:open to load the file into the editor; instead, go into the editor, 
and use File:View Files to copy the file (or whatever portion of it you 
need) into the editor.  What makes this so safe regarding your tendency 
to forget to his escape is that the editor doesn't have the filename, so 
it can't save over it.
