I don't have a LaserJet myself, so I don't have any definite answers for
you.  It sounds like your cables are fine...

Make sure that both your printer and GS are set to the same baud rate (I
use 19.2k with my DeskJet).  Some DJ printers also have a CR/LF option that
you might want to investigate.  Beyond that, I don't have any ideas...
