Re: IIC....if by a screen full of garbage, you mean a sort of checkerboard screen of irregular light and dark areas, then check the ROM chip. I had this problem on one of the IICs I used to have....the dealer wanted to exchange the motherboard, but after some experimentation, I fixed it by putting in a ROM chip. AllTech and Shreve may be sources for the chip.
