There appears to be a lot of debate as to whether the Mac is an Apple or
otherwise.  As the ignoramus who started this thread (albeit not about the
somewhat trivial issue now in session), I would like to offer a theory.

Perhaps this proposed nomenclature solves the problem:

o  The Apple Mac is a model called a Mac made by Apple
   (like the Sinclair Spectrum was a model called a Spectrum made by
Sinclair) 

o  Similarly the Apple ][ is a model called a ][ made by Apple.

Macs and ]['s are Apples, Spectrums are Sinclair, and I have a sneaking 
suspicion nobody is going to believe me.  :)
