STM: What's the format of the disk images?

What's the format for the STM disk image files?  I've noticed that
most of the images are either 143616 or 143488 bytes.

If I remember correctly, it's 35 tracks * 16 sector/track * 256 bytes/sector.
And that gives us 143360 bytes on a disk.

So where did the extra 256 or 128 bytes come from?
