  No, but the increase in CPU speed and the caching helps to speed
up graphics processing in general, which does in fact lead to a
perceptible improvement in the speed at which graphics is drawn.
All of my desktop applications redraw the screen much more smoothly
now that I have a Zip GS.
  The 1 Mhz speed of the video RAM still poses an upper limit on how
fast you can update the screen, but an unaccelerated GS running 
Quickdraw II doesn't approach it :-)  I did a quick calculation and
figured most applications should be able to redraw the screen in
about half the time that they used to without the Zip GS.
