Transdrive 5.25" trouble

The single 5.25" Transdrive on my PCTransporter is giving me trouble - it no longer 
reads or writes.  Whenever I access the drive, the red light comes on and the floppy spins, 
but the read/write head won't move off of its stop.  The R/W head motor appears to be 
OK because it pulls the head back to the stop if I move the head over and then access the 
drive.  The PCTransporter appears to be OK because it boots up from the partition on my 
hard drive.  Is there any way of determining whether the problem is in the Transdrive or 
the PCTransporter?  And if it's the PCTransporter, is there any solution short of 
replacement?

For what its worth, my system is:
	GS ROM 1
	4 MB GS-RAM board
	PCTransporter
	20 MB Vulcan
	2 Disk ][ drives on a Disk][ controller
	2 Apple 3.5" drives off of the Smartport
