  GS/TCP will work with either MacIP (over AppleTalk) or SLIP,
over a serial line.

  The advantages are obvious to me, but I'm biased :) With GS/TCP,
you could have multiple connections open to the Linux box; transfer
files more easily (just NFS mount your GS and use "cp" instead of
that annoying Zmodem); you'll be able to use snazzy GUI mailers
and other utilities instead of icky X-Windows programs.
