I don't know if this will help, but you can put the ZipGS in slot 1 by
reversing the cable going into the CPU socket.  Note that you _have_ to
reverse the cable at _both_ the motherboard socket _and_ the card socket.
This way, the pin-1 edge is inverted, but since the cable is straight-
through wired, this is not a problem.  I have had my ZipGS running in
this configuration since I bought it.  I also checked with Zip tech support
before doing it.

Also, if you are using an internal drive, you may want to put an insulator
between the drive/power supply case and the card in slot 1.

Now if you have a card that can go into slot 3 without overriding the
control panel setting, this will help.  Otherwise, it won't do you much
good.
