Shell applications need to be accessed from um, shells.   :-)  Shells
are usually text based, you will need the ORCA/shell, or GNO/ME shell
to access them.  They are commerical products.  If you don't already have
it, you can FTP a freeware shell called ECP-16.

Other shells include's ProSEL-16, Merlin shell...
