You mean just swap the analog circuit-board inside the drive
with one from a dead Apple II drive (ie- Disk ][)? I suppose that might
work, but I'd have to have a closer look at both kinds of drives before
attempting it (not too mention find a spare Disk ][ analog-board).
(btw, that's "Mitchell", not "Michael") ;-)

Well, as I said before, while the drive seems okay externally
and internally (no missing chips or damaged/burned parts), it may not be
functional. I may be interested in a trade, but it's probably not worth the
cost when you consider shipping and what Apple II and III drives are worth.
(I'm in no desparate need of spare drives btw, but it would nevertheless be
nice!). :) Is your Apple II drive a "Disk ][" model by any chance? (the
full-height 5.25 with black front and rather large Apple-logo).
No, I'm not a "WAP" member. I don't own or use Apple /// machines,
let alone ever used one (I did see an Apple III+ on display back _many_
years ago when they were new though, along with a Lisa and Apple //e nearby
at a local shopping-mall...) ;-)
