Re: //e Power Light

The original poster, I believe it's Joe, has it right...his ][e (presumably one
of the beige ones...) is missing a little piece. The old beige ][e's have a
sticker that completely covers the power light. It's an opaque beige sticker
with a translucent green square window in the middle. This is one of the most
frequently lost components of a ][e system (after those knockout plugs from the
back panel). The ][e enhancement kit includes a beige sticker with the word
"Enhanced" on it, but that sticker lacks the green window...it fits on top of
the factory-installed mostly-opaque-with-translucent-window sticker, allowing
the green portion of the original sticker to show through.

If it really bugs you, and you can't find one of the little window-stickers,
just unplug the lamp from its socket (using a pair of pliers or a lamp puller
(yes, such a tool exists for tiny lamps!) if necessary), pull the lamp straight
out of its socket. PRESTO! Complete darkness in that little corner. Of
course, then you don't get the power-on indication...

You could also cover the hole with a bit of black tape; or perhaps a hunk of
colored (green is nice) plastic tape would be translucent enough for the light
to shine through without blinding you.  Don't worry about heat, in this case;
it's a low-wattage lamp.
